Description

This project was developed in collaboration with the UMCG in Groningen as part of the Innovation Workplace initiative. It serves as a final group project and a practice run for our upcoming graduation project.

The goal of this project is to help reduce children's fear of MRI scans. Initially, we used Unreal Engine, but after encountering multiple challenges, we decided to transition the project to Unity for better flexibility and development efficiency.

In this VR experience, we use the sounds of an MRI machine and associate them with cute fish that children can "catch." This playful interaction helps reframe the sounds in a positive way, making the experience less intimidating. The application is designed to be used just moments before the child undergoes the MRI scan, helping them feel more at ease.

To maintain realism, we kept the play area as small as possible, ensuring that the virtual space mirrors the physical constraints of the MRI machine. This way, the transition from VR to the real scan feels natural and familiar.
